The leaves are changing colour. The bright green of summer is turning into a blend of gold, bronze, red, and orange.
Gone are the light and lazy cotton t-shirts. Heavy coats, wool sweaters, knitted scarves, warm gloves now cocoon their hurried wearers. The wind is brisk and biting.
Sunset is earlier than it was yesterday. Sunrise is later.
The smell of fast approaching winter is in the air.

As much as I dread the dark drippy winters in England I do so miss the change of seasons. Fills you with a sense of... something. Love it. Wrap up.
Oh girl I know we are not far behind! Each night the sun sets earlier :(
BUT - there's always the fun of the holidays coming up and somehow snow in the wintertime is a sweet treat.
Tash I know what you mean. It struck me yesterday too... something about the continuity of the cycles.
Bella, I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year with the angel in our new house! And snow, although cold, is always pretty.
This is when my sister Ailis runs out shopping for new coats, boots, scarves... She revels in the colours and fashions of winter, sensible girl. I used to just shiver and mope!
Beautifully put!
What a lovely post! There is something comforting and welcome about the changeing seasons.
Sooner to you than us, but the same things approach here. This is the loveliest time of year in the upper midwest US. I have always found the fall to be a time of introspection.
I'm not sure why, but Fall really touched something in me this year. It seems it touches a lot of us.
